Get a Bit of Background!

It is true the hardest part of anything is to know where to start, and god knows I have no idea where to start here.

I am Chas Scotland, I am a 21 year old from Glasgow, I have an interest in Music, Games and I am a huge Si-Fi geek! I love being involved in creative projects, and I am always looking to delve into something new, however my main focus is in Sound! I have worked with bands and on animations and am going to give you a few example of what I have done and what I have coming up! I have created this as a sort of online portfolio for people to follow what I have been up to and what I am still doing.

Bellow I have added some links to some of the work I have already worked on,

This first one is a Remix I did for my University Coursework of KT Turnstull - Fade Like A Shadow, the objective of this exercise was to create a remix that would introduce the song to a new market, I took it from very Rock/Pop to a bit more electronic than the original use of synths and more crazy noises, it was great fun to make despite my very limited Keyboard skills. I created this full mix using a Macbook, M-box 2 and Pro Tools 8 with Music Production Toolkit 2 installed nothing fancy, and I made no Live recording for this.

This next track is from an Album I have been working on for some time, The equipment used to create this is fairly low budget compared to other stuff I have worked on, but as a great producer said to me once it's better to have Low End Gear you know how to utilise well than having £1000's of Gear you haven't a clue how to use! This was a lot of fun to make and the over all project has taught me to be a much better engineer as I have been on my own and any problems I have been confronted with I have had to find my own solutions for.

I haven't only been limited to worked within Music, I did the sound to this animation over the Summer of 2010, it was good to work on a project that helped expand my horizons and realise there is a lot more to Sound than just Music. I love doing Post Production work the imagination involved makes creating some of the sounds so much fun.

In the next few weeks I have some mixing work to be doing, and I also hope to be starting a few other projects of the next few months so come back and check out what I have been doing!
